Here I am sitting in the cockpit. Notice I am wearing a leather helmet
and goggles at the ready. The oxygen mask was not a demand-type but a
constant flow with a bulb, which wasted lots of oxygen. For radio
transmissions we had a throat mike on an elastic band with two little
microphones held on our neck.
Behind the pilot seat is an armor plate and up front a very thick windscreen and I never encountered anybody who had the wind- screen penetrated with a bullet so I guess it was pretty good stuff! |
